Treasurer's Financial Report 2025

The treasurer's report for the financial year 2025, presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Martham Local History Group. It covers the Group's bank balance, membership receipts, and the year's programme of talks, visits and events.

Financial Report – 2025

Chris Harrison, Treasurer

The past twelve months have been fairly well-supported by members of Martham Local History Group, with a full calendar of talks, visits & the annual dinner in February.

This year there has been a slight decrease in assets held by Martham Local History Group, and this is due to the increased costs of speaker's fees & travelling expenses, together with the need to cancel one coach outing for which we had paid a non-returnable deposit of £50 & the need to subsidise the second coach outing.

We held a full calendar of talks throughout the past twelve months, and a coach outing to Thetford. It was disappointing that the coach trip to Sutton Hoo had to be cancelled due to lack of support.

Your committee have held regular meetings throughout the year in the Methodist Church, and the hire fees have remained the same as last year of £20 per group meeting and £10 for committee meetings.

The History Group's bank balance has decreased slightly this year to £3309.73, and the committee have decided that, due to us now having to pay bank charges on transactions with the account, and increased speaker fees, Membership fees will rise to £15.00 per year, and visitor fees will rise to £5.00 per talk attended. This increase will come into effect from the 1st January 2026, so members can avoid paying the increase by renewing their membership from this evening until 31 December 2025. After this date the increased fees will take place.

We have renewed our Public Liability Insurance, to cover any unforeseen claims by persons during any of our talks or coach outings, and hope that we do not have to make any claims throughout the coming year. We have also renewed the NorAh membership allowing members to use the Norfolk Record Office with added benefits.

May I thank you for renewing your membership this year and also to the new members who have joined us in 2025. I look forward to seeing you all regularly at our forthcoming meetings & outings.
