Treasurer's Financial Report 2022
The treasurer's report for the financial year 2022, presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Martham Local History Group. It covers the Group's bank balance, membership receipts, and the year's programme of talks, visits and events.
Financial Report – 2022
MLHG has finally managed to have a complete programme of events for the last financial year, following two years of hiatus due to the Covid pandemic restrictions that were imposed by HM Government.
We stated that the previous year had seen a decrease in assets held by Martham Local History Group, due mainly to allowing all members to have a year's grace from paying subscriptions. However, with restrictions lifted, this year we have once again asked members for their annual subscriptions to be paid and I thank you all for your contributions which help the History Group survive and move forward.
We have been able to hold a full calendar of talks and visits throughout the past twelve months, with six talks on various subjects and three major coach outings to Gressenhall, Cambridge and most recently Castle Rising & King's Lynn. These were all well supported allowing us to just about cover our expenses for each trip.
We have decided not to renew the annual Zoom subscription for the forthcoming year as all talks and committee meetings are now being held in the Methodist Church. The website and domain renewals are automatically renewed each year, and we hope that members take the time to visit the History Group's website occasionally to see the excellent write-ups on events and other interesting content.
The History Group's bank balance has increased this year to £3629.22, mainly due to member's subscriptions. The cost of coach hire has increased and we expect it to be more expensive for the next occasions when we have visits throughout next year. Speaker's fees and expenses are also rising. As a result, the committee have agreed to raise annual membership subscriptions to £12 with immediate effect. All subscriptions fall due from the 1st January 2023, but members can take advantage of paying their renewal from September, which will cover them until 31 December 2023. All members qualify for free entry to all of our monthly talks and certain discounted payments for coach outings compared to non-members. The cost to non-members attending one of our talks will rise to £4 per person.
The Jubilee booklet that was written & produced by the History Group has completely sold out and we have decided not to print any further copies. I would like to thank all contributors, advertisers, donators and purchasers for supporting this special project, and to all those who were able to sell copies to members of the village community.
Once again thank you to those Members who renewed their membership and also to the new members who joined us in 2022. I look forward to seeing you all regularly at our forthcoming meetings & outings.
