Treasurer's Financial Report 2013
The treasurer's report for the financial year 2013, presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Martham Local History Group. It covers the Group's bank balance, membership receipts, and the year's programme of talks, visits and events.
Financial Report – 2013
The closing figure for the Martham Local History Group's bank account on 13 August 2013, being the latest date for the bank statement received, was £1425.05. This is an increase of £202.85 on the previous year. This sum includes subscription receipts from 41 members totalling £410.00, and income from raffles held over the year totalling £59.47 after deduction of prizes awarded.
We held a number of events over the last twelve months including the very successful talk in March by Professor Tony Stuart on "The West Runton Elephant" which despite a bitterly cold evening was attended by a record number of people - a total of 112 people turning up.
The annual coach trip to Ickworth & Bury St Edmunds was a joint venture with Martham Gardening Club and despite a good turn-out resulted in a deficit of receipts amounting to £50 which has been taken from MLHG funds. Future outings by coach will only be continued subject to sufficient support from Members.
It has been agreed by the committee that all visiting speakers will receive a payment to cover their expenses where a fixed fee has not been previously stated.
The biggest involvement of the History Group this year was with Media Projects East & Martham Flegg High School in the production of the "Martham Stories" DVD. Honorariums were paid to the Chairman & Treasurer for their involvement in researching & producing archive material & information for the project.
This year we purchased some new equipment for use by MLHG. The sound equipment used at the previously mentioned Tony Stuart talk in the Village Hall proved to be a good purchase, and we now have a digital projector to use at talks where this equipment can be linked with a computer to display images and text presentations onto a screen or suitable blank wall. The cost of this new equipment was £519.31 and we hope that it will prove to be a wise investment to improve the quality of our future meetings.
We have also taken out a subscription to a Local History Magazine, which publishes topics of local interest, and the first copy we received contained a short report on the West Runton Elephant talk. Anybody wishing to look at the magazine should contact Ann.
Annual subscriptions remain unchanged at £10.00 and will be due from Members by the end of the year, and anybody not renewing by the last day of February will be removed from the Membership. Renewals can be paid from today, as can any new membership request, and will benefit in being valid until 31 December 2014.
Once again thank you to all Members who renew their membership and support our events throughout the year, without you the Group wouldn't be able to survive.
