Financial Report – 2016

Chris Harrison, Treasurer

Another interesting year has passed for MLHG since the last annual statement, with the latest closing figure of £2,909.30 for the bank account issued on 01 September 2016. This is an increase of £389.40 on the previous year. This sum includes subscription receipts from 72 members totalling £720.00, and income from raffles & donations received, plus non- member receipts to events held throughout the year totalling £253.42. Also please note that annual payments for the Methodist Hall hire & website hosting fee, which have been paid, but have not yet cleared the bank, so will appear in next year's statement.

A successful number of events have been held over the last twelve months of which more details are given in the President's & Chairman's reports.

The annual coach trip to Castle Acre this year resulted in an almost full coach and I would like to place on record my thanks to the President, Chairman and Secretary for all the hard work they carried out in ensuring that the day was a complete success. I would like to thank members for their support in this visit and to remind you all that future outings by coach will only be continued subject to sufficient seats being sold due to the continued rise in the cost of coach hire. This year we had a shortfall of £70 on the day which was subsidised from Group funds.

This year we continued to allow all members free entry to our monthly meetings. As a result, with average attendances still achieving 42, the nett income from such events has fallen but your committee have agreed to continue with providing free entry for members over the next 12 months. We consider that the subscriptions received will be sufficient to continue this practice, but can assure members that it would also be kept under constant review.

The purchase of a hardback book relating to life in the Thorpe St Andrew Asylum was made for the History Group this year following a successful talk on the subject earlier in the year.

Annual subscriptions for Members remain unchanged at £10.00 and will be due by the end of December this year, and anybody not renewing by the last day of February 2017 will be removed from the Membership. Renewals can be paid from today, as can any new membership request, and will benefit in being valid until 31 December 2017.

Once again thank you to all Members who renew their membership and support our events throughout the year, without you the History Group would not exist.
