Tenth Annual General Meeting 2019
AGENDA FOR THE TENTH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Tuesday 17th September 2019 - 7.30 p.m.
Martham Methodist Church
1. Apologies for absence.

4. Treasurer’s presentation of the Accounts,

5. Proposed Amendments to Paragraphs 6.1 and 6.2 of the Constitution.
In order to confirm that the President is not subject to three-yearly re-election the following sentence shall be inserted at the beginning of Paragraph 6.2: “The President shall be appointed in perpetuity”.
The relevant parts of 6.1 shall be slightly amended to read:
"The Committee shall …………… comprise of a President, Officers (Chair, Vice-chair, Secretary, and Treasurer) and co-opted members. President, Officers and co-opted members shall have equal voting rights."
6. Election of Officers and Committee.
(a) Proposals are requested for the following posts and should be made in writing, with a Proposer and a Seconder, to the Secretary up to the start of the meeting. Two Officers have come to the end of a three year term.
Chair: Noel Mitchell is proposed and seconded by the Committee.
Treasurer: Chris Harrison is proposed and seconded by the Committee.
(b) Officers remaining in post, starting the second year of their term:
Vice Chair: Janet Edwards
Secretary: Pat Mitchell
(c) Existing Co-options: Ann Johnson, Peter Lavender, Mary Porteous and Mike Swallow.
Further proposals or volunteers are welcome from members – there being one vacancy as Nicola Hems is standing down but continuing to help with the archive.
7. Future Events:
(a) October: The March of the Mills – Paul Hooper, Parish Council Chair.
November: The Blickling Ladies – Living History at Blickling Hall.
(b) Outline Programme 2020 – Progress report
(c) Proposals from members for future programmes.
8. Next Annual General Meeting:
Tuesday 15th September 2020, 7.30 p.m. Martham Methodist Church.

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Martham Local History Group held on Tuesday 18th September 2018 at 7.30 p.m. in the Methodist Church
In attendance: 45 members and 3 visitors
1. Apologies for Absence: Stephen Johnson, Greta Malton, Sue and Richard Pickles, Bob Porteous and Terry Whitmill
2. Minutes of the last AGM were approved as a true record
3. Chair’s Report
The Chair read his report (copy on file) which was accepted.
4. Treasurer’s Presentation of the Accounts
This had been circulated (copy on file). He reported that subscriptions will remain at £10 per year. Members not renewing by the end of February 2019 will be removed from the membership list.
Free entry to meetings for members will also remain.
The Account was accepted.
Ted Coates asked what the accumulated funds will be used for.
The Chair reported that the committee had suggested: another blue plaque, a village trail with sign boards and a historical footpaths walk with the ancient footpaths being registered. The Chair asked for other suggestions from the members for consideration.
5. Election of Officers and Committee
Vice Chair: Janet Edwards was proposed and seconded by the Committee. She accepted.
The Chair explained that Janet had been acting Vice Chair. Nicola Hems had stood down as Vice Chair but remained on the committee as a co-opted member. She was thanked by the Chairman.
Secretary: Pat Mitchell has completed her term. The Chair reported that Pat wanted to stand down but was willing to work alongside anyone new to the post. No nominations had been received. Mary Porteous proposed that Pat continue and she agreed.
President: Ann Meakin, Chair: Noel Mitchell and Treasurer: Chris Harrison remain in post and are starting the final year of their term.
Existing Co-options: Nicola Hems, Ann Johnson and Peter Lavender are willing to remain. The Chair said that any further volunteers are welcome.
6. Future Events:
16th October: The Life of Nelson – a change of speaker from the printed programme. The speaker will now be Susan Pearce.
17th November: Norfolk in the First World War Armistice 1918 – Neil Storey. Tickets (free to members) until after the October meeting when the event will be open to the general public.
Outline Programme 2019.
Ann went through what was planned for next year. The Programme, when finalised, will be sent out to members before the end of the year.
As usual members were asked for further suggestions for future years.
7. Next Annual General Meeting: Tuesday 17th September 2019 at 7.30 p.m. in the Methodist Church
Members Take the Floor: Graham Gislam (Local History Unearthed), Anne West (Nursing in the 50’s) and Chris Harrison (A Brief History of Royal Flying).
All three speakers did extremely well and were most interesting. We overran our normal closing time even though the first speaker Graham, had laid out in the school room 12 items for members to look at and decide what they were, before the break.
